About The Position

Responsible to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair hydraulic systems and components. This role involves determining the overall condition of machines through inspections, diagnosing issues with hydraulic and electrical systems, and identifying the causes of defects or malfunctions. The Shop Tech will overhaul and repair hydraulic components, fit fluid lines and pipes, and assemble/disassemble parts and systems. They will also record the condition of hydraulic systems, restore equipment to working order, and frequently inspect company equipment for correct and safe operation. Additionally, this role requires maintaining a clean and organized facility, developing positive relationships with other departments, adhering to safety requirements and company policies, and ensuring all education and safety certifications are current. Flexibility, including working overtime and performing responsibilities not specifically identified, is expected.

Requirements

  • Experience and/or educational background related to mechanics, electronics, or hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work in stressful environment with quickness to identify problem and expedite a solution.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner and listen attentively to others, understands material, and provides instructions to associates.
  • Possess dexterity and strong mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, management and various personnel.
  • Ability to move objects and service related tools that may weigh up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling required for service and/or repair.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair hydraulic systems and components.
  • Determine overall condition of machines through inspections and provide maintenance.
  • Diagnose issues with hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Identify nature and causes of defects or malfunctions in lines or other parts of system using diagnostic machines and consulting with operating manuals.
  • Overhaul and repair hydraulic components; fit fluid lines and pipes.
  • Assemble and disassemble parts and systems; clean and lubricate parts.
  • Record condition of hydraulic systems, including malfunctions observed and repairs.
  • Restore equipment to working order through component replacement and/or repair.
  • Frequently inspect company equipment to ensure operating correctly and safely.
  • Ensure a clean and organized facility.
  • Develops, works with, and maintains positive relationships with all Austin Hose departments to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to all company safety requirements and company policies.
  • Ensures all education and safety certifications are current.
  • Willingness to be flexible, including working overtime and preforming responsibilities not specifically identified in the job description and assuming new responsibilities for the betterment of Austin Hose.
