Total Safety is looking for a Shop Supervisor to join their safety conscious team! The Shop Supervisor ensures accuracy of inventory through monthly and annual inventory cycle counts. Coordinates functions for the shop, the field and inventory control and performs a variety of duties to ensure the proper receipt, handling, storage, and shipment of all commodities. Essential Duties:â Reviews daily work requirements, assigns, monitors, and reviews work of Material Assistants for accuracy and progress. Trains team members to improve skill, productivity, safety, and quality. Assists with and teaches problem resolution. Plans and coordinates special projects. Oversees and performs receiving and inventory control functions. Ensures that all commodities are handled safely and protected against damage or loss. Tracks and expedites shipments where needed. Ensures that short, incorrect, lost or damage claims are processed and filed with freight or insurance companies. Follows through until the claim is paid or resolved. Ensures that inventory transactions are entered efficiently and accurately and is responsible for the integrity of the inventory record keeping. Coordinates and performs shipping function. Ensures that products are packaged and labeled appropriately and that customer specific requirements are met. Ensures that the most efficient and cost-effective methods of shipping are used and optimizes use of carriers for which routes, schedules, and rates. Ensures that shipping documents including bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, air bills, and import and export documents are completed accurately and timely. Ensures that corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Assists in resolving issues related to shipping, receiving, and inventory control. Investigates and responds to questions and addresses discrepancies. Oversees and performs physical cycle counts. Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and system records and recommends actions to resolve discrepancies. Works with Sales and Purchasing to implement forecasting and improve utilization of excess or slow-moving stock. Ensures that warehouse space is optimized and that items are stored in a safe, secure, well identified manner and that materials can be moved efficiently. Works with Purchasing to improve supplier performance in product protection, packaging, document accuracy and any other areas that impact efficient warehouse operations. Provides leadership in achieving safety goals. Ensures that safety awareness is on-going, good housekeeping is practiced and ensures that various environmental and safety regulatory requirements are met. Ensures that corrective actions and preventative actions are put in place before issues arise. Assists with the human resource functions of the department including hiring and firing, performance appraisals, and counseling and coaching staff. Monitors team members' work hours and ensures accuracy of timesheets. Ensures labor reporting is accurate and balances with time sheets as required. Gives input to salary and job change actions. Troubleshooting Electrical and IT applications daily. Assists with special projects as assigned. Must be able to assist with jobs in the field. â
