About The Position

The Shop Supervisor is responsible for leading, supervising, and managing the shop's daily operations and hourly personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable performance. This role drives continuous improvement in shop activities, technical execution, and quality control, reporting to the area manager.

Requirements

  • Diploma and advanced technical training or equivalent experience in turbomachinery or manufacturing.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in heavy equipment/part manufacturing or repair.
  • Detailed working knowledge of shop practices, repair, safety, personnel, and administrative procedures.
  • Technical knowledge must include manual machining, assembly, manufacturing processes, and shop floor control.
  • Excellent supervisory, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Technical ability to direct assigned personnel and make decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and heat treatment knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the scheduled workload according to customer contracts and Elliott's Quality Manual.
  • Assign and monitor daily work, ensuring personnel are qualified and provided with complete instructions, necessary resources, and tooling (including calibration).
  • Review and approve completed assignments.
  • Provide technical expertise to resolve unforeseen manufacturing problems.
  • Advise Engineering of customer product non-conformances.
  • Develop and initiate monitoring procedures to control costs related to scrap and rework, focusing on root cause elimination.
  • Control efficiency levels to ensure high quality, shortest lead-time, and lowest product cost.
  • Enforce compliance with plant rules and the labor contract.
  • Implement and supervise effective and efficient operation through established policies, safe work practices, and good housekeeping (including leading 5S and Continuous Improvement initiatives).
  • Participate in formal and informal audits (Quality, Statutory, HSE, etc.) and take corrective actions.
  • Administer all personnel functions, including hiring, training, development, discipline, discharge, and performance appraisals.
  • Establish high standards of conduct and productive work habits.
  • Maintain high visibility on the shop floor, promptly addressing employee technical issues and fostering motivation and morale.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments for scheduling, shipping, and material handling.
