About The Position

This position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works independently or as a member of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals. This is an entry-level position, generally requiring two or more years of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge/skills. The incumbent relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under moderate supervision. The incumbent is expected to model company mission and core business values, collaborate with key internal/external resources, and participate in ongoing self-development.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • General knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Must have basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses basic equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Performs disassembly and assembly of basic machine components to manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling
  • Performs rebuilding, repairing, reconditioning, and maintenance of equipment and components
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of estimating, planning, and controlling cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
