The Shop Service Technician I is responsible for conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. This role requires wearing proper personal protective equipment and attending/completing required technician training classes. The technician will maintain a necessary set of tools to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble components to manufacturer's specifications. Key duties include diagnosing and performing designated repairs on customer or company-owned equipment, encompassing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. The role emphasizes working in a neat and orderly fashion, continuously seeking improvements in work methods, the work area, and safety standards. The technician will inspect components to maximize parts reuse for cost control and complete required documentation using appropriate software to record repairs and track time. Monitoring job expenses against repair estimates and informing the supervisor of any potential cost overruns is crucial. The position requires a positive approach, supportive conduct towards the team, and setting a standard for others. Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations, training and mentoring others, and temporarily assuming supervisor responsibilities as needed are also part of the role.
