About The Position

The Shop Service Technician I is responsible for conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. This role requires wearing proper personal protective equipment and attending/completing required technician training classes. The technician will maintain a necessary set of tools to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble components to manufacturer's specifications. Key duties include diagnosing and performing designated repairs on customer or company-owned equipment, encompassing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. The role emphasizes working in a neat and orderly fashion, continuously seeking improvements in work methods, the work area, and safety standards. The technician will inspect components to maximize parts reuse for cost control and complete required documentation using appropriate software to record repairs and track time. Monitoring job expenses against repair estimates and informing the supervisor of any potential cost overruns is crucial. The position requires a positive approach, supportive conduct towards the team, and setting a standard for others. Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations, training and mentoring others, and temporarily assuming supervisor responsibilities as needed are also part of the role. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5-6 years of experience
  • Completed all required training curriculum to be designated a Tech I.
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and relevant Dealer software programs.
  • Successfully completed relevant specialized equipment technical courses.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains necessary set of tools required for job performance to diagnose, disassemble and assemble components to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Diagnose and perform designated repairs on customer or company owned equipment including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs.
  • Works in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways of improving the methods of work, work area, and safety standards.
  • Inspects components to insure maximum parts are being reused to control repair costs.
  • Completes required documentation utilizing appropriate software to document repairs performed on equipment, and accounting for repair times.
  • Monitors job expenses versus repair estimates and ensures that the supervisor is aware of any cost over run, prior to the job being completed.
  • Approaches work in a positive manner, maintains conduct that is supportive of the work Team and sets the standard for others to follow.
  • Contributes to Team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Trains and/or mentors others in department.
  • Assumes Supervisors positon temporarily, as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
