About The Position

The Shop Operator 1 is an entry-level position responsible for setting up and operating various machinery including CNC, NC, and semi-automatic lathes. The role involves interpreting blueprints and layouts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences. The operator will use precision measuring instruments to verify work and ensure it meets specifications. This position requires working with minimum supervision and may involve providing on-the-job training to new employees. Adherence to all company safety and health policies is mandatory.

Requirements

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read tape measure accurately.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC, NC, lathes and semi automatic.
• Study blueprints, layouts, sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operation, and setup requirements.
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Verify completed work with the tolerance limits stated in the specifications.
• Work with minimum supervision.
• Provide on the job training to new employees as needed.
• Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.
• Other duties as assigned.
