About The Position

CK Contractors and Development LLC is seeking a Shop Mechanic to repair, service, and maintain all company-owned equipment, including vehicles, diesel, gas, and small engines. This non-exempt position is crucial for ensuring the operational readiness of our fleet and equipment.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of diesel, mechanical, and automotive experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, electronic controls, and computer-based diagnostic systems.
  • Good driving record and insurable by a vehicle insurance company.
  • Ability to perform repairs and maintenance in both field and shop settings.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics along with service manuals.
  • Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
  • Basic Computer Skills (email and web browser).
  • Excellent safety awareness and willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve company results.
  • Ability to think critically to analyze information and make sound decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with mechanics, truck drivers, and field personnel.
  • Reliable transportation to be at work when scheduled.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Must own and maintain own set of tools and toolbox.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy automotive experience.
  • CDL Class A license.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and small engines, including changing tires, oil, grease, transmission fluid, and antifreeze.
  • Conduct tune-ups, brake jobs, and other preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, and other powered rolling and non-rolling equipment.
  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance and compliance with operating specifications.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, A/C, brake systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices, to determine malfunctions and necessary repairs.
  • Manage service documentation and order necessary parts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and the CK yard, which may involve moving equipment and vehicles, loading/unloading materials, and repositioning inventory.
  • Work primarily in the shop and occasionally at job sites as needed.
  • Monitor operations to ensure health and safety standards are met.
  • Perform and assist with other job positions as requested to ensure job completion.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedules, including accepting overtime assignments as required by operational needs.
