About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Shop Mechanic to support our fleet and equipment operations throughout the DC Metro area. This role is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy construction equipment and trucks to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable jobsite operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy diesel-fueled construction equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, and AC electrical motor knowledge
  • Experience working on 2018 model year and newer trucks/ equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on large off-road or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to work effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Flexible, dependable, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varied weather and temperature conditions.
  • Clean driving record (no recent DUI/DWI or aggressive driving convictions).
  • Knowledge of the DC Metro area.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, bilingual a plus
  • Must have or be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card (Non-CDL acceptable).
  • Must provide own basic hand toolbox company provides additional tools.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL is a plus but not required.
  • Welding experience is a plus; must be willing to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on fleet and job-site equipment including dump trucks, pickup trucks, wheel loaders, excavators, loaders, heavy tracked dozers, air compressors, and other support equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Conduct preventive and proactive maintenance, including thorough inspections to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of all work performed.
  • Ensure equipment productivity and reliability remain high.
  • Follow and promote strict safety standards in the shop and on job sites.
  • Read maps and follow directions to various job locations when required.
  • Work efficiently in time-sensitive situations with changing priorities.
