International Drilling Equipment is seeking a Shop Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will support the timely, high-quality repair of machinery and components. You will help ensure equipment is maintained in peak operating condition and that all work is performed in accordance with safety and quality standards. The successful candidate is professional, dependable, ethical, and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, internal teams, and manufacturer representatives. Requirements

  • Demonstrated aptitude for developing strong mechanical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Consistently safe work practices.
  • Working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Technical school certificate (or equivalent) in electrical and mechanical repair.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough equipment inspections prior to dispatch and upon return from the field or rental.
  • Identify, document, and communicate wear, damage, or safety-related concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Use checklists and inspection forms to support consistency, compliance, and traceability.
  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs on a variety of heavy equipment.
  • Complete routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-offs, and adjustments.
  • Ensure all work meets manufacturer guidelines and IDE quality standards.
  • Prepare machines for delivery by completing pre-rental checks, testing, and cleaning.
  • Load and unload equipment safely using approved tools and procedures.
  • Complete post-use evaluations and document damage or maintenance requirements.
  • Accurately record daily activities, time entries, and parts usage on the appropriate work orders.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date service records in the company’s service management system.
  • Complete assigned training, including safety, technical, and company-specific programs.
  • Comply with all company safety requirements, PPE standards, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace at all times.
  • Support parts inventory tracking and notify management of required supplies.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager, Rental Department, and other team members to prioritize and complete work efficiently.
