About The Position

Western Express HQ is in Nashville, TN. All outside terminals, located all over the country, have a small town, tight knit family atmosphere. This role involves promoting and supporting the Company Vision in daily operations, providing day-to-day supervision of Maintenance Facility Foremen, Supervisors, and/or Lead Personnel. The position requires reviewing parts purchasing practices for cost-effectiveness, ensuring proper documentation of parts purchases, and prioritizing purchases through National Account vendors. Additionally, the Shop Manager will ensure accurate opening, documentation, and closing of Repair Orders, schedule vendor supply training, and conduct daily shop and yard inspections for regulatory compliance. The role also includes participating in interviewing and hiring processes to recruit talent and performing other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy-duty vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience (maintenance, accounting, or business management preferred).
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-person, in-office attendance is an essential function of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with OSHA, EPA compliance, parts management, tire operations, and hiring practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and support the Company Vision in daily operations.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of Maintenance Facility Foremen, Supervisors, and/or Lead Personnel.
  • Review parts purchasing practices to ensure cost-effective procurement methods are consistently utilized.
  • Ensure all parts purchases are properly documented on Purchase Orders, including verification of quantities received, barcoding, and bin labeling in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure parts are primarily purchased through National Account vendors, with exceptions limited to one-time emergency purchases only, and oversee monthly 90-day non-usage return processes.
  • Ensure all Repair Orders are accurately opened, documented, and closed, including proper entry of 3C’s, SRT’s, SOP’s, and warranty coding in alignment with company standards.
  • Schedule and coordinate vendor supply training for technicians and supervisory staff.
  • Conduct daily shop and yard inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Federal, State, and Company regulations, including Service Facility Audit requirements.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring processes to support recruitment of “Best in Class” talent for organizational growth and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
