About The Position

The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all business and administrative aspects of the service center. Hiring, training, and evaluating mechanics and support staff are the main duties of this position.

Requirements

  • Must have experience leading field staff in maintenance or construction.
  • Ability to lead by example and be a role model for a diverse staff.
  • Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Must be a creative and critical thinker.
  • Must have a valid WA driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate various vehicles and equipment and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds and walk two to ten miles each day.
  • Ability to stoop, stand, and bend for up to 9 hours or more a day; lift tools and equipment; grip and squeeze repeatedly.
  • Ability to use a blower, weed trimmer, hand saw, chainsaw, forklift, bobcat, and other tools and equipment.
  • Arrives to work consistently and on time, ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent, arrives at meetings and appointments on time, completes tasks on time, or notifies a supervisor with an alternate plan.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all local employees, including the tasks of recruiting, hiring, orientation, training, coaching, and disciplining - local employees may include administrative, mechanics, field managers, and field staff.
  • Implement and facilitate new hires and ongoing training and maintain a culture of safety and compliance throughout the operation.
  • Interact with customers on existing business, new business, and complaint resolution.
  • Facilitate new hire training and orientation.
  • Work with customers and complete estimates for new work.
  • Interact with the entire organization as necessary and with centralized departments to ensure smooth information flow.
  • Schedule all work and employees. Ensure routes are optimized for overall efficiency.
  • Establish a schedule and perform regular site visits. The Shop Manager should be monitoring staff and work quality daily and ensure that issues found are corrected.
  • Source and ensure proper inventories are on hand to conduct day-to-day business. Ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect inventory and that proper records are in place for all chemicals and other hazardous substances.
  • Assist in the development of and manage the local budget, control costs, approve invoices, and establish and work with local vendors.
  • Ensure that all vehicles, tools, and facilities are maintained per company standards and appropriate records kept.
  • Be ready to jump in and help where necessary.
