About The Position

We are looking for a shop manager to lead our shop technicians and ensure the efficient movement of fire and life safety products and materials in and out of our branch and the businesses we support. This role ensures we remain compliant with federal, state, and local ordinances, customer requirements, and the expectations and requirements of the company. This role is essential to leading a well-organized, efficient, and crisp operation for our life safety technicians. This is a fast paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 – 5 years of experience as a shop technician
  • Must possess the ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Must possess the knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple IOS, Android and Outlook. In addition, required to learn and use industry specific devices and software
  • Must currently have a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Nice To Haves

  • State license or NAFED testing on NFPA 10
  • DOT certifications for the state in which you are applying
  • 1 – 3 years of experience as a shop technician in the fire life safety industry
  • Ability to operate a forklift

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory in the shop and assist with count as needed
  • Perform inventory counts as required
  • Ensure DOT compliance for hydro systems and other key areas of the business
  • Manage testing records and verify accuracy for DOT inspections
  • Oversee maintenance, cleaning, and organization of all shop tools
  • Supervise shop technicians and keeps floor on track for maintaining extinguishers and system cylinders in various locations in shop such as: complete work, return bins, swap outs, condemned extinguishers, swap systems cylinders
  • Ensures all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations are properly documented either electronically or manually
  • Assist with inventory control and systems training
  • Champions a positive relationship with the customer and passes on information to the appropriate personnel for follow up, quotes, questions, or concerns
  • Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job
