About The Position

Nearby Fleet Services is expanding and seeking a hands-on leader to build their service operations from the ground up. This full-time Shop Manager - Heavy-Duty Fleet Operations role offers ownership of a growth-focused shop in Phoenix, AZ. The position requires hands-on experience managing repairs and maintenance on semi trucks and/or trailers. The role involves guiding technicians through diagnostics, assisting with repairs, performing service advising, managing performance metrics (labor efficiency, billable hours, parts costs), refining workflow, parts logistics, fleet maintenance software, and recruiting/onboarding technicians. Leadership is demonstrated through driving throughput and setting standards.

Requirements

Hands-on experience managing repairs and maintenance on semi trucks and/or trailers.
Comfortable splitting time between hands-on shop work and leadership/strategy.
Excel where accountability, structure, and leadership intersect.
Desire for paycheck tied to results, not capped by a flat salary.
Approach operations with ownership, pride, and a long-term vision.
Must have the ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

ASE certification(s) in Medium/Heavy Truck repair (T-series) and/or Management (AMAM) or Service Consultant (C1).
Relevant hands-on experience with semi trucks and/or trailers will be considered in place of formal certification.

Responsibilities

Manage repairs and maintenance on semi trucks and/or trailers.
Guide technicians through complex diagnostics.
Jump in on repairs when needed.
Handle service advising to build lasting fleet partnerships.
Actively manage performance by watching profitability drivers (labor efficiency, billable hours, parts costs) and adjusting operations.
Help build the blueprint for the shop, refining workflow, parts logistics, and fleet maintenance software.
Play a lead role in recruiting and onboarding technicians as the operation grows.
