About The Position

Provides technical expertise and manual skill in the inspection, servicing, and repair of all NCI vehicles. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, inspecting and testing vehicles for safety, managing the vehicle maintenance program, and making road calls when vehicles become disabled. The Shop Hand will also evaluate work done by outside contractors, assist in developing maintenance plans, and recommend equipment replacement. A key responsibility is to train drivers on recognizing potential problems and upholding NCI policies.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, services, and/or rebuilds equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance activities.
  • Inspects and tests vehicles to ensure safety.
  • Reports irregularities and equipment abuse to shop manager.
  • Manages NCI ongoing vehicle maintenance program.
  • Learns the operating and maintenance procedures for all NCI vehicles and equipment.
  • Makes road calls when vehicles become disabled.
  • Evaluate work done by outside contractors.
  • Helps shop manager develop short/long-range maintenance plans.
  • Recommends the replacement of equipment necessary to ensure fleet effectiveness.
  • Teach drivers how to recognize problems before they result in an equipment malfunction.
  • Encourage drivers to ask questions and offer suggestions.
  • Uphold NCI policies and follow administrative procedures.
  • Coordinate activities, in conjunction with shop manager, by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate mechanics.
  • Supervise and participate in the construction of specialized tools and equipment.
  • Oversees the overhauling and rebuilding of trucks, tractors, pumps, cranes, and other standard or specialized gasoline and diesel operated oil field equipment.
  • Examines defective machinery to determine cause of malfunction and reports need for machine repairs.
  • Sets up and operates machines to make test runs and experimental products.
  • Inspects work in progress and finished products.
  • Confers with supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
