About The Position

This role involves using various tools and equipment to prepare and finish metal fittings for welding. The primary responsibilities include operating a plasma cutter and hand grinder to shape elbow halves, using a hand cutting torch, and cleaning fittings through grit blasting and sand blasting. The position requires attention to detail to ensure a high-quality finish, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently. Additionally, the role may involve training new employees and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

Requirements

Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
Ability to read tape measure accurately.
Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
Ability to drive a forklift and pass forklift certification class.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Use plasma cutter on a turntable to cut elbow halves and de-cap.
Use hand grinder to grind bevels for elbows to be fit up for welding.
Use hand cutting torch to cut elbows.
Clean/Finish all fittings to remove all grinding marks, scratches and surface imperfections using grit blast and sand blast removing equipment.
Inspect all blast equipment and PPE associated equipment daily before beginning any blasting.
Work with minimum supervision.
Keep area environmentally clean and orderly at all times.
Provide on the job training to new employees as needed.
Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.
Other duties as assigned.
