About The Position

The Foreman will assist the Service Manager with the overall operation of the service department shop in a manner that meets the needs of all internal and external customers. This role involves performing daily administrative and operational activities within the service department, including managing technician workloads, reviewing reports, providing technical support, and ensuring the organization and cleanliness of the shop and facility grounds. The Foreman will also be responsible for communicating job progress to the Service Manager and customers, gathering warranty information, and creating repair estimates or quotes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years of Komatsu Technical experience.
  • Some experience in the supervision of others.
  • Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with a computer for administrative use including Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and diagnostic use using manufacturer provided programs.
  • Capable of working with limited supervision / self-starter.
  • Capable of dealing with the various personalities and skill set levels of technicians.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Team player, comfortable in a group setting.
  • Ability and initiative for continuous learning.
  • Problem solver.
  • Capable of initiating follow-up and expediting work.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations.
  • Must be able to pass a background, physical, and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • A 2 year technical degree or comparable military training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily administrative and operational activities in the service department.
  • Create daily work for shop technicians, including acquiring and organizing job preparation technical information.
  • Review Shop Technician reports daily for accuracy, appropriate detail, and completion.
  • Directly track shop technician(s) daily activity.
  • Communicate daily with shop technicians on job progress.
  • Assist shop technicians with technical support and parts identification/lookup.
  • Review and sign off on all shop work orders prior to closing.
  • Manage the “Open Work Order Report” for shop work orders.
  • Gather warranty information for claim filing efforts.
  • Create and present a repair estimate or quote for shop work.
  • Obtain technical information via computer and telephone from manufacturer provided sources.
  • Assist in maintaining care and custody of all company-owned tooling.
  • Communicate progress on shop work, including change of scope scenarios, to Service Manager and customers for approval.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with others within the service department.
  • Responsible for shop and facility grounds organization and cleanliness.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
