The Shop Foreman is responsible for completing work orders and invoices, preparing warranty claims, reporting and minimizing aged work-in-process, maintaining service records and quality control records, completing job status reports, maintaining current billing cycle, assisting with yearly performance reviews, assisting with determining labor needed, assisting with diagnosing technical machine issues, assisting employees to obtain training, assisting in conducting safety meetings and other general service department duties as directed by the Branch Service Manager. This role involves administrative tasks, inventory control, service and repair of heavy construction equipment, management of service operations, and employee training. The Shop Foreman must maintain department communication, utilize computer programs and John Deere tools, plan work schedules, and ensure a clean and safe work area. They are also responsible for maintaining service department tool inventory, completing service data on invoices, opening and closing work orders promptly, performing basic diagnostics, advising customers on repairs and parts, repairing and replacing parts, testing equipment, preparing reports and warranty information, servicing company vehicles and shop equipment, maintaining flat rate according to the Standard Pricing Guide (SPG), utilizing Marketing Service Times (MST’s) for quoting jobs, staying current with product knowledge, maintaining equipment, reading blueprints and technical drawings, and assisting with job status reports. Additionally, the Shop Foreman assists with performance reviews, determining labor needs, diagnosing technical machine issues with factory support, and maintaining billing cycle efficiencies, expenses, and gross margins. They also play a role in employee training and certification, and conducting safety meetings. Other duties may include delivering parts and running errands as needed, and assisting with other assigned duties by corporate management.
