About The Position

The Shop Foreman contributes to the overall organization by maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the fleet of heavy-duty and support equipment for The Hall Group of Companies. This position, primarily working from the shop floor, contributes to the overall organization by coordinating repairs in the shop.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of Heavy Equipment repair administration experience
  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment technician or equivalent experience
  • A clean 5-year driver abstract to operate a company supplied fleet vehicle
  • Safely operate a wide range of heavy equipment.
  • Equipment knowledge with the ability to look up and order parts
  • Skillfully use various repair tools and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics for effective troubleshooting.
  • Skillfully use various computer software for troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing equipment. As well as computer software to manage, track and communicate daily work duties.
  • CAT SIS knowledge and experience, as well as other OEM maintenance platforms
  • Accurate costing and purchase order administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and Excel
  • Teamwork

Responsibilities

  • Act as a working Foreman, spending the majority of time on the shop floor supporting repairs, troubleshooting, inspections, and maintenance work.
  • Coordinate daily shop repairs based on operational priorities, equipment availability, and repair urgency.
  • Oversee repair work on the shop floor to ensure technicians and apprentices are completing work safely, correctly, and within expected timelines.
  • Lead, support, mentor, and train apprentice technicians, ensuring they are developing safe work habits and proper repair practices.
  • Coordinate and participate in weekly repair meetings to review equipment status, repair priorities, parts needs, and expected completion timelines.
  • Lead or support daily morning safety meetings and reinforce company safety expectations with the maintenance team.
  • Document all repair actions through service reports and timecards, ensuring precision in coding.
  • Order and procure equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance parts.
  • Assist with managing machine warranty to ensure Hall Constructors is capturing all warranty considerations.
  • Remove roadblocks for maintenance team members to increase efficiency.
  • Manage technicians, apprentices, and shop-floor repair activity to ensure quality, productivity, and repair timelines are maintained.
  • Adhere to all company and division-specific safety policies and procedures including; Completing Daily PSA’s, Machine lockout procedures, Live machine testing, and wearing of proper PPE.
  • Manage and work with the Equipment Superintendent on actioning oil sample results.
