About The Position

The Shop Foreman is a senior hands-on role responsible for supervising the service technician team while remaining actively engaged in billable repair work on the shop floor. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the shop — assigning work, ensuring quality, and developing technicians — while carrying a personal billable hours requirement. The Shop Foreman is the direct supervisor of all service technicians and reports to the General Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical training or certification in diesel or equipment mechanics strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3–6 years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining agricultural, turf, or construction equipment.
  • Advanced diagnostic and problem-solving skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and transmission systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or informally lead other technicians in a shop environment.
  • Comfortable maintaining personal billable hour productivity while supporting team needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication skills — able to explain technical issues clearly to teammates and service writers.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment components and work in varying shop conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Kubota or other manufacturer-certified technician designation.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and transmission issues that may be escalated from other technicians.
  • Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, and pre-delivery setups on new equipment.
  • Replace defective components including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical parts.
  • Conduct performance and safety tests to verify repairs meet Kubota standards before equipment is returned to customers.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all repairs, parts used, labor time, and maintenance history.
  • Serve as the first point of technical escalation for other technicians, providing hands-on guidance and troubleshooting support without removing them from their work.
  • Help onboard and develop junior technicians, sharing diagnostic techniques and best practices on the job.
  • Perform informal quality checks on completed work orders before close-out, flagging concerns to the General Manager as needed.
  • Assist the General Manager in prioritizing shop workflow during peak periods or when the manager is unavailable.
