About The Position

The Shop Foreman oversees daily shop operations, coordinates workflow, supervises technicians AND, enforces safety and quality standards, and ensures on-time completion of production and repair work. The Foreman acts as the primary point of contact for personnel issues, scheduling, equipment maintenance, and process improvement.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma, trade school, or associate degree preferred.
[3–7]+ years hands-on experience in a shop environment (fabrication, manufacturing, automotive, HVAC, etc.), with at least [1–3] years in a supervisory role.
Solid knowledge of [ machining, fabrication, CNC, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, or relevant trade skills].
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient with job scheduling, basic shop math, blueprint reading, and measuring tools.
Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA) and shop best practices.

Nice To Haves

Experience with inventory/POS systems, CMMS, or ERP software.
Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement training (Kaizen, 5S).

Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a team of 8 technicians, machinists, and/or mechanics; assign tasks and monitor performance.
Schedule daily work, prioritize jobs, and allocate resources to meet customer deadlines and production targets.
Ensure adherence to quality standards and customer specifications; inspect work and perform final checks.
Enforce shop safety policies, maintain a clean work environment, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company procedures.
Train, coach, and mentor staff; conduct performance reviews and recommend disciplinary actions as needed.
Maintain equipment and tooling schedules; coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs.
Monitor inventory of materials, consumables, and spare parts; place orders and control costs.
Collaborate with production planning, engineering, and sales to resolve technical issues and improve workflows.
Track labor hours, job costs, and productivity metrics; prepare reports for management.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve throughput.
