Shop Foreman

As a family-owned company built on reliability, safety, and service, we operate and maintain a growing fleet of trucks and tanker trailers that help keep industries running every day. We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead our Chicago-area maintenance operation. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing shop technicians, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance, ensuring safety compliance, and helping maintain maximum fleet uptime. Requirements
- 5+ years of truck and trailer maintenance experience preferred
- Previous leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, tanker trailers, air brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and DOT compliance
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Experience scheduling preventative maintenance and coordinating shop workflow
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- CDL preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Must possess own mechanic tools

Responsibilities
- Supervise and support shop technicians and maintenance personnel
- Coordinate daily workflow, repairs, PM schedules, and shop priorities
- Assist with diagnostics and major repairs on tractors and tanker trailers
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with DOT/FMCSA standards
- Monitor shop productivity, quality, and repair timelines
- Perform inspections and verify completed work
- Assist with inventory control and parts ordering
- Train and mentor technicians while promoting a strong safety culture
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation
- Communicate effectively with operations, drivers, and management
- Help manage emergency breakdowns and after-hours maintenance needs when necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional shop environment
