About The Position

TransWest is seeking a Shop Foreman for the PM Shift to join their Fleet Team. This leadership position involves partnering with the Fleet Manager, Fleet Supervisor, and Fleet Coordinator to schedule fleet maintenance for a variety of vehicles, including Motorcoaches and Transit Vans. The Shop Foreman will supervise a diverse Fleet Team, including Technicians, Fleet Coordinators, and Parts and Inventory Specialists. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting complex issues, managing work orders for accurate billing, understanding heavy and light-duty vehicle components, familiarity with fleet telematics systems and DVIR processes, monitoring shop efficiency, and leading with humility.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience working with a variety of vehicles.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a fleet maintenance, automotive repair, or transportation operations environment and/or shop environment.
  • Experience in leading the work of others and comfortable making difficult decisions.
  • Understands budget concepts and how to reduce the costs of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to engaging internal teams and external vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and reduce outsourcing by building efficient in-house repair systems.
  • Proficient in fleet management software (e.g., Fleetio, Samsara) and other related systems (Good2Go, SinglePoint, Petro).
  • Experience auditing and verifying work orders for labor hours and parts accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, coach, and lead others in a positive manner.
  • Create learning and growth paths for all team members within the Fleet division.
  • Work with and hold vendors accountable.
  • Create systems of work that can be completed in-house versus vending out.
  • Be a pro-active communicator, thoroughly communicating with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Verify and audit work orders for accuracy pertaining to allocated technician hours and associated parts.
  • Maintain vehicle compliance (DVIRs) and update Samsara through Fleetio to ensure all issues are resolved daily.
  • Respond to road calls and assist with road side repairs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful work environment.
  • Update and audit vehicle information in systems like Good2Go, SinglePoint, Samsara, Fleetio, Petro, Registration, and Fleet insurance.
  • Be process-driven and find ways to improve the flow of work through streamlining waste.
  • Regularly inspect all vehicles for condition and operational safety, including physical appearance.
  • Track, schedule, and complete minor reported issues for all vehicles.
  • Maintain fleet maintenance records, review driver defect reports daily, and troubleshoot/resolve issues to reduce road calls.
  • Track daily vehicle reports, maintenance, and repair records for accuracy and currency.
  • Make appropriate arrangements for the repair or towing of inoperable vehicles or equipment.
  • Support the IT Team in managing on-board shuttle technology (Wi-Fi devices, telematics systems, tablets).
  • Other duties as assigned.
