About The Position

Standard Industrial Corp. is a growing manufacturing company focused on delivering quality products, dependable service, and practical solutions for customers across multiple industries. We are committed to craftsmanship, continuous improvement, teamwork, and doing things the right way. Our success is built on strong relationships, employee engagement, and a culture where leaders work alongside their teams to solve problems and achieve results. We believe the best leaders are visible, approachable, and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed. If you enjoy leading people through action rather than from behind a desk, this opportunity may be a great fit. Standard Industrial Corp. is seeking a Shop Floor Manager to lead daily operations within our Posen manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating production activities, supporting employees, maintaining workflow, and ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This is not a traditional office-based management position. Approximately 70-80% of the workday is spent on the shop floor, working directly with employees, helping remove obstacles, addressing production issues, and supporting operational needs. The Shop Floor Manager serves as the primary leader of daily shop operations and plays a key role in building a positive, accountable, and productive work environment. The ideal candidate is a leader who earns respect through hard work, strong communication, sound decision-making, and a willingness to step in wherever needed to help the team succeed.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, industrial operations, or production leadership preferred.
  • Previous supervisory, lead, coordinator, or management experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, build trust, and create accountability within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and make decisions in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, production schedules, and standard business software.
  • Willingness to work in a hands-on leadership capacity.
  • Forklift experience or willingness to be trained preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active presence on the shop floor throughout the day, providing leadership, direction, and support to production employees.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, safety awareness, and a strong work ethic.
  • Open the facility and prepare the shop for daily operations.
  • Review production schedules and assign work based on priorities, due dates, material availability, and labor resources.
  • Coordinate labor and workflow to ensure production targets and customer commitments are achieved.
  • Monitor production progress, labor utilization, timecards, and job status to keep work moving efficiently.
  • Lead regular production meetings to review priorities, completed work, challenges, and support requirements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees through training, feedback, and performance discussions.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with troubleshooting production, engineering, quality, and scheduling issues.
  • Work directly with employees to resolve day-to-day operational challenges.
  • Support production activities when needed, including assembly, packaging, banding, forklift operation, staging materials, and truck loading.
  • Collaborate with engineering and internal departments to address drawing revisions, material shortages, production concerns, and quality issues.
  • Communicate schedule changes, lead times, and production updates with internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Secure the facility and shop operations at the end of each shift.

  • Competitive pay based on competency
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance and HSA for employees
  • Flexible paid time off and holidays
