About The Position

The Shop & Field Diesel Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of Zap-Lok equipment and support systems used in both shop and field operations. This role supports equipment readiness, operational reliability, and field service activities by maintaining diesel-powered equipment, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components. The technician will work in both shop and field environments and may be required to travel to job sites on short notice to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and support operational needs. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting safe and efficient Zap-Lok operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience performing maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered equipment, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, fleet vehicles, or similar mechanical systems.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic experience.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, repair procedures, and equipment documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field locations as required.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hydraulic systems and hydraulic troubleshooting.
  • Experience with field service, construction equipment, oilfield equipment, HDD equipment, generators, or mobile equipment.
  • Preventive maintenance program experience.
  • Forklift certification or equipment operation experience.
  • Industrial maintenance, diesel technician, heavy equipment technician, or field service technician background.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel-powered equipment, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment failures in both shop and field environments.
  • Conduct inspections and equipment assessments to identify maintenance needs and ensure operational readiness.
  • Support field operations by responding to maintenance and repair needs at customer and project locations.
  • Maintain equipment service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
  • Assist with equipment preparation, mobilization, and deployment activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance including fluid changes, filter replacement, lubrication, and component inspections.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Follow all NOV safety policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, operations teams, and leadership to minimize equipment downtime and support project execution.
