About The Position

The Farmhouse Sweets and Treats Shop Attendant is responsible for creating a welcoming, fun, and memorable experience for guests visiting Farmhouse Sweets & Treats at Oglebay. This position provides exceptional customer service while assisting guests with candy, bulk chocolate, treats, merchandise, ice cream, and other retail offerings. The Farmhouse Shop Attendant helps maintain an attractive, clean, and well-stocked shop while ensuring accurate transactions and positive guest experience.

Requirements

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine interest in helping guests.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system accurately.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to learn product information and confidently make recommendations to guests.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail, hospitality, food service, or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Welcome and engage guests in a friendly, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
Provide excellent customer service and assist guests with selecting candy, sweets, treats, gifts, and merchandise.
Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently, including cash, credit card, and other approved payment methods.
Process sales, exchanges, and returns according to Oglebay Resort policies.
Maintain accurate cash handling and follow all register and cash-control procedures.
Stock, replenish, and rotate candy, food items, merchandise, and retail products.
Keep shelves, displays, counters, and the overall shop clean, organized, and visually appealing.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, checking, tagging, and putting away merchandise.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout the shift.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety procedures applicable to the shop.
Complete classes as needed.
Assist with preparing and packaging candy, treats, gift items, and guest purchases when needed.
Provide knowledgeable information about products, resort amenities, and local offerings when appropriate.
Promote resort activities, special events, and other guest experiences when opportunities arise.
Handle guest questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly, involving management when necessary.
Help maintain a positive, energetic atmosphere that reflects the Farmhouse Sweets & Treats brand and Oglebay guest experience.
Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
Assist with seasonal merchandise changes and special events when requested by management.
Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix.
Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources.
Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.
