Confires Fire Protection Service is currently seeking a Shop Assistant/Driver for our South Plainfield location. As a Shop Assistant/Driver, you will ensure materials are stocked and available for the shop while completing safe, timely deliveries of merchandise and goods to required locations. Responsibilities include operating company vehicles, properly loading and unloading cargo, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness and maintenance schedules.

Requirements

  • Current valid driver's license with 3 or less points and no major violations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Be knowledgeable of hand tools such as pipe wrenches, channel locks, drills, etc.
  • Take initiative, pursue opportunities, and tackle goals.
  • Have excellent attendance and can handle responsibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience is a plus, but not required. Willing to train.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in ensuring material is available for the shop and possibly other branch locations
  • Delivery of tools and materials to our project/customer sites
  • Prepares each job in accordance with the fabrication list or verbal/written instructions.
  • Operates shop equipment and machinery in accordance with safety requirements
  • Reports problems and discrepancies to Management
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times
  • Assists the Shop Manager as required
  • Assigning tasks to team members and overseeing workflow to meet production schedules
  • Taking the lead in resolving quality issues and problems
  • Forklift operation
  • Hydrostatic test and recharge fire extinguishers to specification
  • Checks fire extinguishers for leaks and overall strength to ensure the safety and effectiveness of a pressurized fire extinguisher.
