About The Position

We are looking for a high-energy, safety-conscious Range Master to lead the action at our Clay Target Center.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of firearms, archery, and range safety protocols
  • Experience working with the public in high-volume settings, with the ability to instruct and assist customers
  • Experience in, or ability to learn, mechanical/electrical maintenance for clay target machines and basic, general facility maintenance
  • Ability to work with little supervision, enforce safety standards firmly, and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to legally possess a firearm 8 U.S. Code § 922(g)
  • Successfully pass a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance check
  • Successfully pass pre-employment medical screening
  • Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
  • Complete all required training
  • Successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
  • Maintain acceptable driving records
  • Complete all required driver training
  • Maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of construction, mechanical/electrical maintenance, or related fields is a plus
  • Experience working with the public in a high-volume, high-stress environment
  • Possess strong customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Completing assignments independently with little supervision and representing management and the Department on a shift-by-shift basis in his/her absence
  • Enforce range safety procedures and standards, detect and report vandalism and trespass infractions
  • Detect and fix maintenance issues, including troubleshooting clay target machines, pulling trash, cleaning brass/hulls, and performing basic landscaping duties
  • Oversee the daily activities of volunteer Range Safety Officers and assist and instruct the public on firearms use and safety
  • Instruct the general public in the various clay target disciplines
  • Load and maintain clay target machines
  • Assist in the operation of corporate events, registered tournaments, and other events on the range
  • Directly responsible for the operation and safe use of the public shooting facilities
  • Provides program and range information and aids in interpreting rules and regulations to customers
  • Performs other duties as assigned
