About The Position

Fincantieri Marine Systems North America is hiring for a Shipyard Insulator at our Atlantic Beach, FL, location. This is a 1st shift role, Monday – Friday, 7:00AM – 3:45PM. The Shipyard Insulator is responsible for insulation work across a wide range of ship systems, completing a range of insulation projects aboard U.S. Navy vessels and within shipyard environments, including working with a variety of insulation materials and blankets, carpentry, and sheet metal. This role involves executing assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship/workmanship and ensuring all work complies with vessel-specific regulations and quality requirements. Domestic travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Proficient with hand and power tools (knives, shears, banding tools, rivet guns)
  • Experience with insulation materials (fiberglass, mineral wool, ceramic fiber, foam)
  • Ability to read and interpret shipyard and technical specifications, blueprints, and work packages
  • Knowledge of shipyard safety procedures, confined space protocols, and hazardous material handling
  • Ability to work in inclement weather (cold, hot, rain, snow, extreme heat, etc.)
  • Must have basic organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMSNA and have high values for safety awareness
  • Journeyman, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2 Years of marine, shipyard, or industrial manufacturing insulation experience required, with preferred working knowledge of NAVSEA of 009-32 and SERMC

Responsibilities

  • Install and secure rigid insulation on bulkheads, decks, and overheads, ensuring tight joints for thermal and acoustic control and applying protective finishes as needed.
  • Install and secure insulation on piping, fittings, and valves, applying mastic coatings for a durable, weather-resistant seal.
  • Fabricate and install removable insulation blankets for high-temperature equipment, including fastening, measuring, and fitting for standard and irregular shapes.
  • Build and install structural supports, fabricating and installing metal jacketing over insulation, cutting, forming, and securing aluminum or stainless steel for proper fit and protection.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including occasional overtime, and other duties as assigned
