About The Position

X11 Linesmen are responsible for critical ship and module alignments/measurements using a variety of 3-dimensional and standard optical tooling. These alignments /measurements are used to undock and dock ships, develop cut lines, align and install ships components and pair major modules. The job requires the mechanic to determine the proper tooling for the job, conduct surveys to establish the locations of the measurement outlined in technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models, all while working safely with a high degree of accuracy. The Linesmen routinely interface with Engineering, other Trades and Ship Management. The successful candidate is preferred to have proven math skills, computer skills, and good communication/interpersonal skills. Applicant will need to become proficient in the use of optical equipment such as optical levels, electronic theodolites and total stations while establishing ships reference lines and planes, measuring in-process hull circularities, measuring and recording critical ship's dimensions and supporting production by providing profiles and locations of major components. Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience as a Survey Technician, Metrology Technician, PLS certification or equivalent survey field experience.
  • Able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces.
  • Able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must take and pass a respirator fit test.
  • Able to work assigned shift as production needs.
  • Able to pass Physical Agility Test.
  • Able to work all assigned shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD, excel, surveying field software and various other programs.
  • Thorough understanding of mathematics used in field survey analysis.
  • Proven math skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Good communication/interpersonal skills.
