About The Position

This position is responsible for operating trucks and moving trailers in and out of loading areas for shipping while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role involves various tasks including operating a yard truck, moving trailers, washing trailers, performing lot and reefer checks, recording temperatures and fuel levels, and communicating via radio. The position also requires filling in for the Checkpoint Trailer checker and fueling reefer trailers as needed. The successful candidate must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 months of work history with one employer listed on the application.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a clear MVR report.
  • NO DUI/DWIs in the last 12 months.

  • 3 months of forklift operator experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks and move trailers in and out of loading areas for shipping.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Learn to operate a yard truck and move trailers to the wash bay.
  • Wash trailers inside and/or outside as needed using high-pressure water and cleaning solutions.
  • Perform regularly scheduled lot checks and reefer checks every 2-4 hours depending on the season.
  • Inventory trailers on the building and drop lots for proper yard location placement.
  • Validate set/run temperatures of trailer reefer units.
  • Record reefer unit fuel levels and ensure all information is recorded accurately and legibly for transfer to the WMS system.
  • Write temperatures, fuel levels on trailers, and any other required documentation.
  • Abide by all yard safety practices.
  • May be certified to perform on-premise yard spotter moves.
  • Work in all types of weather including cold, hot, damp, and dusty environments.
  • Stand for the entire shift.
  • Perform walking, bending, standing, turning, pulling, twisting, and lifting up to 70 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Fill in for the Checkpoint Trailer checker at Checkpoint for 1st or 2nd shift as needed.
  • Record trailer information and report it to transportation and management, including but not limited to: door latches, fuel levels, damages, pallet inventory, load locks, late loads, and supplies.
  • Report any damages of trailers while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Fill in fueling reefer trailers with the company fuel truck on 1st and 2nd shift.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Communicate via radio.
  • Complete Tyson paperwork.
  • Read invoices, packing slips, records of materials, etc.
