About The Position

The Shipping Technician is responsible for the accurate packing and distribution of medications, and record keeping related to patient information and company records. This role involves ordering and counting stock of shipping supplies, accurately packing and shipping orders, and receiving and storing incoming supplies. The technician will also deliver pharmaceutical supplies and drugs, and assist pharmacy technicians with inventory receipt. The job description notes that this is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and that duties may change based on organizational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through written, verbal, and interpersonal skills as applied when interacting with employees, clients, or agency representatives; successfully conveying and exchanging information in a positive manner
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent typing/data entry accuracy with good speed.
  • Good computer skills to navigate proprietary and other pharmacy software.
  • Can compile, code, categorize, calculate and verify data.
  • Can count, measure and weigh Rx components.
  • Strong listening/reading comprehension.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Can multi-task and handle multiple priorities without sacrificing quality.
  • Requires standing and/or walking for most of the shift.
  • Regularly lifts office and clinical supplies weighing up to five pounds; occasionally lifts or carries up to thirty pounds. May occasionally push/pull when unpacking supplies. Climbs step stool to access supply or filing shelves. Bends when unpacking supplies, filing or retrieving charts and files. May reach or twist to handle supplies/files.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience in shipping, pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • PTCB National Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Orders and counts stock of shipping supplies.
  • Accurately packs all items in each order according to procedure.
  • Accurately ships each order to the appropriate address so that it arrives at the appropriate time at the correct destination.
  • Receives and stores incoming supplies, verifies quantities against invoices, and informs supervisors of stock needs or shortages.
  • Delivers, or prepares and stages for delivery, pharmaceutical supplies and drugs.
  • Assists pharmacy technicians with the receipt of inventory.
