About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Shipping Supervisor ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Shipping Supervisor will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. This position will be for second shift, with hours from 2pm to 10pm. The general purpose of the Shipping Supervisor is to coordinate the daily workload, determine shipping schedules, and train the shipping team in safety, accuracy, quality, and efficiency. The role also involves ensuring a clean and safe workplace, training the team on quality requirements, managing time reporting, attendance, evaluations, and disciplinary actions, communicating effectively within the department and with other production departments, constant communication with customer service, and continually looking for opportunities for improvement. The supervisor is expected to be a great decision-maker and lead by example. All positions are also responsible for performing all work-related tasks in compliance with Federal, State, and local standards and regulations, and adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and workplace behavior.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skilled with the Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell.
  • Frequently lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Regularly lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
