About The Position

This is a cross-functional role that includes coordinating with production lines to prevent bottlenecks. Managing warehouse staff, overseeing inventory, and ensuring outgoing shipments meet customer requirements and strict deadlines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years experience as a Forklift Operator and/or Truck Driver.
  • One year shipping experience.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Working knowledge of cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Nice To Haves

  • College and/or related technical experience.
  • One year supervisory experience as a proven manager of at least five people.
  • Four years experience in the corrugated box industry.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate working hours including scheduling, approving time off requests, and timekeeping.
  • Maintain compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Supervise all warehouse, shipping and receiving activities. Prevent bottlenecking by ensuring finished goods are cleared from discharge lines as they are manufactured on shift.
  • Supervise Forklift Operators in the daily routine of loading trucks neatly and to the customer’s complete satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service the delivery of the customer orders on time.
  • Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department.
  • Conduct Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel.
  • Coordinate inventory management/housekeeping.
  • Adheres to daily shipping schedules. Making recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
  • Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes.
  • Establish a cooperative working climate that maximizes employee morale and productivity by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, and good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
