About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to create a customer focus by accurately picking/pulling orders while demonstrating a sense of urgency, a commitment to continuous improvement by meeting or exceeding expectations, and a commitment to safety by adhering to all company safety policies. This role involves maintaining and promoting company values, following all safety procedures, adapting to work environment changes, promoting teamwork, and communicating effectively. Responsibilities include operating and replenishing packaging equipment, using wireless tablets and scanners to pick orders, packing orders according to standards or customer specifications, packing and securing pallets for LTL shipments, shipping and voiding shipments in shipping software, assisting with cycle counts, packing kits, and maintaining a favorable attendance record. Specifically for Shipping Specialist I, this includes properly verifying picked orders and resolving discrepancies, printing, pulling, packing, and shipping orders, processing standard small parcel orders, creating and completing cycle counts, and operating company tow motor/reach truck/order picker safely. This role also involves participating in Kaizen events and 5S programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Learn and follow EHS policies, rules and work instructions.
  • Attend required EHS training.
  • Wear the required PPE at all times.
  • Take personal responsibility for keeping yourself and your co-workers and visitors free from injury by participating in and/or conducting risk assessments, work place inspections, corrective actions and safety observations.
  • Report incidents, near miss, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other hazards in the work place.
  • STOP WORK when imminent danger is present.
  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote Fenner Precision Polymers values and behaviors at all times.
  • Follow all safety procedures including lifting techniques and limits.
  • Report any safety incidents and/or moving violations.
  • Find and print safety data sheet labels.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Adapt to change in the work environment to maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Adjust schedule to fluctuate work priorities, as needed.
  • Promote departmental teamwork and inter-departmental teamwork.

  • Operate and replenish packaging equipment/machines.
  • Operate basic material handling equipment I.E. Tow Motor, pallet jack, powered walkie, shrink wrapper, banding equipment, dock plates, etc.
  • Use wireless tablets and scanners to pick orders.
  • Pack orders according to Fenner Standards and/or based on customer specifications.
  • Pack and properly secure pallets for Less Than Loaded (LTL) shipments.
  • Ability to ship and void shipments in shipping software.
  • Assist with cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy consistent with departmental goals.
  • Pack kits as required for shipment.
  • Maintain favorable attendance record.
  • Properly verify picked orders and resolve discrepancies to avoid errors prior to shipment.
  • Print, pull, pack and ship orders, as needed.
  • Process standard small parcel orders through system.
  • Create, and complete cycle counts.
  • Operate Company tow motor/reach truck/order picker safely, ensuring seat belt adherence and daily operator checks.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and 5S programs in an effort to support our world class endeavor.
