About The Position

Guardian Equipment, a worldwide leader in industrial safety equipment manufacturing for 50 years, is seeking a Shipping & Receiving professional for its Chicago facility. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills and computer literacy.
• 2+ years of experience in shipping/receiving or material handling roles.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift or stock picker.
• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to prioritize workload to ensure on-time shipment of goods.
• Ability to meet physical requirements: work performed standing with extensive walking, and ability to lift tote pans weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must pass tests for reading comprehension and basic math.

Responsibilities

• Check, weigh and count a wide variety of incoming parts, materials, and supplies.
• Verify purchase orders or packing lists against shipments, noting any discrepancies such as shortages, damage in transit, broken packages, or obvious defects.
• Transport materials to the appropriate department or store in temporary storage.
• Maintain precise inventory records.
• Open cartons, select samples for inspection, and deliver them to the inspection area.
• Operate power trucks, hoists, and other equipment for unloading, moving, or storing materials.
