About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading all shipping, receiving, warehouse, and material staging activities within a multi-shift unionized manufacturing operation at the Thermoid Bellefontaine facility. This position manages a team of unionized employees and oversees the daily movement of products and materials required to support customer shipments and manufacturing operations. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor ensures the safe, accurate, and timely processing of customer orders, inbound materials, inventory transactions, and production support activities. This role is responsible for coordinating domestic, collect, and international shipments, supporting customer expedite requests, managing warehouse inventory, and ensuring material availability to production finishing operations. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor works closely with Customer Service, Planning, Production, Quality, and third-party logistics providers to meet daily shipping targets and customer delivery commitments. This role is fully onsite and plays a critical part in supporting Thermoid’ s operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and safety culture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical training preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • 3+ years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, shipping, receiving, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience coordinating LTL, truckload, collect, and international shipments.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems; D365F&O/SAP/Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication required – the S&R Supervisor will frequently interface with members of internal and external teams using various means of written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures while promoting a culture of safety throughout warehouse and shipping operations.
  • Lead daily safety discussions and ensure all incidents, near misses, hazards, and 5S observations are reported and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Conduct safety observations and reinforce safe forklift, pedestrian, and material handling practices.
  • Ensure all team members are properly trained and certified on required equipment and processes.
  • Oversee daily shipping operations to support customer delivery requirements and business objectives.
  • Provide direct supervision, communication, and support to union-represented employees across multiple shifts.
  • Ensure consistent application of work rules, attendance expectations, and Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions.
  • Investigate employee concerns and work collaboratively with management and union representatives to resolve matters appropriately.
  • Coordinate parcel, LTL, truckload, collect, and international shipments.
  • Partner with Customer Service to manage expedited orders, partial shipments, and urgent customer requests.
  • Coordinate transportation activities with third-party logistics providers, including CH Robinson and customer-designated carriers.
  • Ensure all shipping documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Monitor shipment performance and proactively address issues impacting customer deliveries.
  • Manage warehouse operations and inventory accuracy for finished goods and raw materials.
  • Ensure proper use of warehouse management systems, RF scanners, and ERP transactions.
  • Maintain inventory integrity through process discipline, material traceability, and cycle count support.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor warehouse organization, storage utilization, and material flow.
  • Coordinate material staging and movement of hose products to support production and finishing operations.
  • Ensure materials are delivered to production areas accurately and on time.
  • Partner with Planning and Production teams to support changing priorities and manufacturing schedules.
  • Support initiatives that improve material flow, warehouse efficiency, and production support.
  • Follows ERP standard work as prescribed and trained for the role.
  • Maintain thorough records of shipment history, pick history and inventory control processes.
  • Support internal audits and corrective actions related to outside processing activities.
