About The Position

Northstar Aerospace, now part of Avio Aero - a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading independent manufacturer of components and assemblies to the global Aerospace industry. Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately transacting incoming and out-going shipments. This position issues material to the shop floor, assists in movement, creates records of transactions, and maintains inventory levels. This position is in Northstar’s Supply Chain Department, and reports to the Supply Chain Manager. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary. This is a full-time position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years aerospace experience in Shipping & Receiving or Material Handling
  • Functional in Microsoft Outlook and Excel

  • Attendance/Punctuality: consistently at work per schedule and on time

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.
  • Must be functional in MicroSoft Office Group., Outlook and Internet
  • Strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.
  • Able to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays in order to ensure that shipment needs are met
  • Regularly required to stand; walk a minimum of 60-70% of the time, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately transacting incoming and out-going shipments.
  • Issuing material to the shop floor.
  • Assisting in material movement.
  • Creating records of transactions.
  • Maintaining inventory levels.
  • Inspecting parts and paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
  • Transacting incoming shipments in the ERP system.
  • Maintaining records of incoming shipments.
  • Protecting and preserving parts for storage, movement through the shop, and between buildings.
  • Packaging parts per work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Creating new work instructions as needed in collaboration with Supply Chain Manager.
  • Coordinating with Supply Chain Manager and co-workers to select cost-effective shipping methods.
  • Filling out Bills of Lading.
  • As needed, filling in for driving company vehicles for transportation between buildings and to/from local vendors.
  • Maintaining vehicle safety checklists.
  • Inspecting material handling equipment for defects and notifying maintenance personnel for repair.
  • Loading and unloading vehicles and safely securing loads for transport.
  • Safely using pallet jacks, overhead hoists, and forklift to move material.
  • Supporting an AS9100 certified facility that manufactures aviation hardware.
