About The Position

The shipping and receiving material handler position is responsible for all shipping and receiving functions of the facility, ensuring inbound and outbound deliveries are accurate and timely. Shipping-Receiving material handler is responsible for maintaining housekeeping for the area and keeping raw material area organized. They also must follow all safety rules, especially with forklift safety.

Responsibilities

  • Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers, and supervisor.
  • Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records including incoming and outgoing products, goods returned, damaged product.
  • Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
  • Prepares proper paperwork for shipments.
  • Transports materials on shipping dock with a clamp truck or forklift as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area that facilitates safe warehousing and loading dock operations.
  • Safely loading and unloading trucks with the forklift.
  • Safely stacking/placing raw materials and finished goods in their designated area(s) in an organized manner that does not create hazards for other personnel and facilitates efficient inventorying and inventory control.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of both incoming and outgoing bills of lading (BOL).
  • Effectively communicating with immediate supervisor any concerns with conditions of trailers and/or the quality of incoming materials.
  • Coordinating with drivers to ensure a safe and efficient flow of traffic in and out of the loading docks.
  • Verifying that the pallet tags on finished goods accurately reflect the product on the pallet(s) when putting pallet(s) away in warehouse and prior to shipment.
  • Assisting Material Handler on the production floor with delivery raw materials to their line(s) as needed.
  • Inventory at the start of the shift on the first workday of each week and reporting levels to immediate supervisor.
