About The Position

This role involves directing activities related to the shipment and receiving of materials. The primary responsibilities include operating a forklift to move pipe and materials between production areas and loading/unloading trucks. The position also requires performing data entry and retrieval on a computer system, including pulling and posting orders, checking inventory levels, and building trucks. The Shipping & Receiving Loader/Checker will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, completing daily loading tickets, and conducting periodic inventory checks.

Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D., 1-2 years college or equivalent experience.
3-5 years in a related field.
Must be qualified on subordinate jobs, material and equipment.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as adding, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Sight capabilities to distinguish proper product identification as well as warning and operational indicators.
Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching in all areas due to possible limited observation.
Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
Hear and understand verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone.
Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials and products produced to determine acceptance and or denial of each.
Lift 26-50 pounds and carry it up to 30 feet.
Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30”.
Activate and use telephone, computer, and calculator.
Ability to feel objects, such as textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips.
Ability to grasp office utensils and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees.

Internet/Intranet and AS400 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate forklift equipment to load correct product for safe delivery to the customer.
Organize and plan loads, establishing daily priorities for shipping and receiving.
Instruct drivers on yard safety and safe loading/unloading procedures.
Perform clerical duties such as photographing outgoing shipments, preparing loaders check lists, signing receipts and freight bills, preparing receiving reports, and ensuring shipments conform to shipping orders.
Operate and maintain miscellaneous office and materials handling equipment such as computer, calculator, camera, and two-wheel truck.
Establish and maintain good working relations with employees.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of all operations and equipment, as well as the various types and sizes of plastic pipe products.
Complete daily loading tickets for Shipping and Receiving departments.
Teach, advocate, and use safe working practices and report hazardous conditions at all times.
Maintain a good housekeeping program at all times.
Fill out miscellaneous reports as necessary and conduct periodic inventory checks as required.
Maintain efficient use of warehouse and storage facilities.
