About The Position

Verifies the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders. Compares identifying information with bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records. Verifies that materials received are as ordered. May route incoming items within the company as directed. Maintains related records. Clerical experience and knowledge of Microsoft products as well as other relevant software. administrative Support Worker. No High School diploma - 3+ years of experience. Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for our Shipping/Receiving lead position at the Salina Galvanizing. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will receive, unload, and store incoming product loads as well as inspect for damage and defects to ensure a high quality finished product. Additionally, you will… Work in an outside environment- rain, heat, cold, etc. Coordinate any special handling required as a result of inspection Operate forklift and/or overhead crane Identify materials or products being loaded and unloaded Operate equipment and machinery in a safe, secure, and productive manner Make recommendations to resolve any damage or defects found in products Lead a small crew of 3-4 employees Follow a shipping/receiving schedule Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations Maintain a safe and productive working environment

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • The ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • The ability to operate a forklift and/or overhead crane
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder height or higher
  • Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time, push, pull, bend, squat, reach and walk
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • Clerical experience and knowledge of Microsoft products as well as other relevant software

Nice To Haves

  • One year of previous experience operating a forklift in a professional environment
  • One year of previous experience in a Shipping and Receiving or Distribution position
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to work outside most of the time in a variety of weather conditions
