About The Position

Onsite Sign Group is seeking an organized Shipping, Receiving & Crate Builder to join their team. This role is crucial for protecting custom signs during transport, ensuring freight movement, and maintaining accurate control of incoming and outgoing materials. The company has been designing and building landmarks across Western Canada since 1993 and has grown to employ over 60 people across 7 cities in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Their Lloydminster facility is the manufacturing hub where custom projects move through various stages before installation. The finished signage is often large and fragile, making careful packaging and load planning essential to protect the work done in other departments.

Requirements

  • Shipping/receiving, warehouse, crate-building, carpentry, or material-handling experience.
  • Able to read a tape measure and build strong, square packaging from basic plans or dimensions.
  • Experience using saws, drills, nailers, staplers, strapping tools, and hand tools safely.
  • Able to lift and move material and work around large products.
  • Organized, dependable, and careful with paperwork and job identification.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence.

Nice To Haves

  • Cabinetmaking, carpentry, custom crating, skid-steer, telehandler, or load-securement experience.
  • Experience shipping oversized, fragile, or custom manufactured products.

Responsibilities

  • Receive deliveries and verify quantities, condition, paperwork, and job identification.
  • Label, stage, and store incoming material in the correct location.
  • Review shipping requirements and confirm completed products match the packing list.
  • Measure and build wood crates, frames, skids, blocking, and protective packaging for custom signs.
  • Wrap, pad, brace, strap, and protect freight against movement, moisture, abrasion, and impact.
  • Take required before-and-after packaging photographs and complete shipping records.
  • Plan loads and work with drivers and yard staff to load trucks and trailers safely.
  • Operate forklift, skid steer, or telehandler when trained and authorized.
  • Track reusable shipping equipment, straps, blankets, hardware, and packaging supplies.
  • Maintain an orderly shipping area, material racks, crate-building area, and outdoor staging space.
