About The Position

The cheese department advances the mission and vision of Shelburne Farms by helping conserve the farm’s beautiful agricultural landscape and being an integral part of an inspiring campus offering farm-based education programs and community activities. This position is dedicated to managing the daily fulfillment, shipping and receiving activities of the cheese department, and serves as the final quality assurance check before our product leaves our facility.

  • Experience with managing shipping/receiving operations.
  • Experience with inventory management software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
  • Proficient with computer skills, including Google and Microsoft Suite and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all order fulfillment and shipping of Shelburne Farms products in the C&C department including direct to consumer (DTC), wholesale, distributor, and local delivery orders.
  • Support Cheese and Catalog Manager in the improvement and daily supervision of work processes and systems to meet operational demands, including peak visitor season and holiday sales and shipping.
  • Prioritize a safe and ergonomic work environment. Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and shipping/receiving records, including Product Traceability and all Food Safety records encompassed by the Shipping/Receiving department.
  • Purchase shipping supplies and maintain clear and visible inventory stocks to meet department needs.
  • Purchase food goods to support sales of DTC packages.
  • Work with management to organize and fulfill increased holiday shipping demand. Train and monitor backup and seasonal staff.
  • Participate in the Food Safety Team: uphold and improve food safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Support team engagement with education, visitor, and community programs and events.
  • Willingness to engage and perform other tasks as assigned.
