Shipping/Receiving Level 1 workers verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment. They compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments. They verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records and correctly pick up and deliver property to various locations. This role involves receiving and unloading incoming materials, comparing packing slips with purchase orders for accuracy, and processing return shipments. It also includes sorting, counting, packaging, labeling, ensuring, unpacking, and processing receipts for incoming property, as well as coordinating with Purchasing to correct discrepancies. The position requires inspecting shipments for damages or defects, preparing shipments for postal or commercial conveyance, determining the most economical and efficient shipping method, and selecting appropriate shipping containers. Additionally, the role involves preparing bills of lading, checking items against work orders, tracing lost shipments, and potentially maintaining department databases and preparing reports. Operation of a dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift may be required for loading and unloading, along with banding and shrink-wrapping palletized orders. The role adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, and safety standards, including the use of PPE and safe equipment interaction.
