About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing necessary paperwork for outbound shipments and performing computer transactions to ensure accurate inventory management. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will print load sheets, assign load numbers, document shipping records, and select optimized shipping solutions. They will also handle complex ad hoc shipments, liaise with logistics teams for international and specialized shipments, and manage incoming materials, including unloading, inspection, and generating nonconforming material reports (NCMR). The position requires coordinating freight pickups/deliveries, pulling and staging outbound product, and ensuring plant safety and housekeeping standards are maintained. Additionally, employees must understand and adhere to all quality, EHS, product safety, compliance, and information security requirements, as well as company policies. The role may require additional hours and overtime as needed. Essential common requirements include the ability to multitask, interact professionally, maintain attendance, and be ready to work at assigned locations.

Requirements

  • 1-3 Years of Experience as Shipping/Receiving Clerk
  • Less Than 1 Years of Experience within the automotive industry
  • Demonstrated work experience with computer software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Internet, Word, Excel, and office databases.
  • Must be able to be moderately proficient with the use of a keyboard and/or PC.
  • Moderate typing skills and basic math skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Valid driver’s license and passing grade on Power Industrial Truck test.

  • English fluency with Reading, Writing, Speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare necessary paperwork to accompany outbound shipments and perform required computer transactions for inventory management.
  • Print load sheets for full truckloads and assign load numbers to all outbound shipments.
  • Document information about loads and store shipping records according to corporate record retention guidelines.
  • Evaluate and select optimized shipping solutions, prepare shipments/labels, track shipments, and resolve problems.
  • Communicate shipment status and problem resolution needs to requestors.
  • Support complex ad hoc shipments involving specialized equipment and various freight modes.
  • Liaise with logistics procurement, operations, and customs compliance for unusual/complex international and third-party shipments.
  • Unload all incoming materials, suppliers, and packaging.
  • Inspect all incoming freight and documentation for accuracy and acceptability.
  • Generate NCMR for nonconforming material from suppliers and notify the quality department.
  • Store all materials, supplies, and packaging in proper locations.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound freight pickups/deliveries with freight companies.
  • Pull outbound product and stage it at least 30 minutes prior to shipment.
  • Maintain plant safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Follow safety rules and report safety problems and all injuries.
