About The Position

The Shipping receiving clerk is in charge to package items, print labels, weigh packages and determine appropriate postage. Also, this position is responsible for comparing bills of lading against actual merchandise received, inspecting for damaged goods, counts, invoices, orders or other records and, once approved, distributing merchandise to the correct departments. Performs UPS, FedEx and truck shipment functions, including receiving of shipments. Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Assembles corrugated boxes, containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment. Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Operates a tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area. Determines storage areas for inbound shipments and allocate appropriate space within the warehouse. Traces the missing or lost shipments. Routes products to departments. Other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with ERP/MRP is preferred.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office tools, inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
  • Permit for operation of forklift highly preferred.
