About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing necessary paperwork for outbound shipments and performing computer transactions for inventory management. The position involves printing load sheets, assigning load numbers, documenting shipping records, and evaluating optimized shipping solutions. It also includes preparing shipments, tracking deliveries, and resolving issues. The role supports complex, non-standard shipments, including international and specialized freight, requiring liaison with logistics procurement, operations, and customs compliance. Additionally, the position involves unloading and inspecting incoming materials, generating non-conformance reports, storing materials, and coordinating freight pickups/deliveries. The role also requires pulling outbound product and staging it prior to shipment.

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • 1-3 Years of Experience as Shipping/Receiving Clerk.
  • Less Than 1 Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
  • Demonstrated work experience with computer software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Internet, Word, Excel, and office databases.
  • Must be able to be moderately proficient with the use of a keyboard and/or PC.
  • Moderate typing skills and basic math skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Passing grade on Power Industrial Truck test.
  • Fluency in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare necessary paperwork to accompany outbound shipments.
  • Perform computer transactions for inventory management (receiving and locating).
  • Print load sheets for full truckloads.
  • Assign load numbers to all outbound shipments.
  • Document information about loads and store shipping records.
  • Evaluate and select optimized shipping solutions.
  • Prepare shipments and labels.
  • Track and trace shipments to point of delivery and engage in problem resolution.
  • Communicate shipment status to requestors and provide problem resolution support.
  • Support complex ad hoc (non-standard) shipments, including international, third-party, and specialized freight.
  • Liaise with logistics procurement, logistics operations, and customs compliance for unusual/complex shipments.
  • Unload all incoming materials, suppliers, and packaging.
  • Inspect all incoming freight and documentation for accuracy and acceptability.
  • Generate NCMR for non-conforming material from suppliers and notify the quality department.
  • Store all materials, supplies, and packaging in proper locations.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound freight pickups/deliveries with freight companies.
  • Pull outbound product and stage it no less than 30 minutes prior to shipment.
  • Communicate any product shortage potentials to Customer Service and Operations.
  • Ensure plant safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Follow safety rules, report safety problems and all injuries.
