About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk ensures the accurate, timely, and efficient movement of materials into and out of Merit Manufacturing. This role is responsible for receiving incoming shipments, verifying inventory, preparing outbound customer orders, coordinating shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting warehouse operations. Success in this position means protecting inventory integrity, ensuring customer orders are received and shipped accurately and on time, and maintaining organized warehouse operations while following all safety, GMP, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Previous Shipping & Receiving, Warehouse, Inventory Control, or Logistics experience required.
  • Previous experience operating both a reach truck and sit-down forklift (hi-lo) required.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify quantities, shipping documents, lot numbers, labels, and inventory transactions accurately.
  • Strong math skills with the ability to reconcile inventory counts, shipment quantities, and shipping documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, and maintaining inventory records.
  • Ability to read purchase orders, bills of lading, packing slips, shipping paperwork, and inventory reports.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory software, and RF scanners preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect inbound shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and bills of lading.
  • Verify incoming materials for accuracy, quantity, lot numbers, condition, and proper documentation.
  • Receive inventory into the company's inventory management system and accurately maintain receiving records.
  • Prepare, pick, pack, stage, and verify customer orders for shipment according to shipping schedules.
  • Generate and verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and carrier paperwork.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments with freight carriers and package delivery services.
  • Operate a reach truck, sit-down forklift (hi-lo), pallet jack, and other approved material-handling equipment safely throughout the facility.
  • Load and unload trailers while ensuring products are handled safely and without damage.
  • Maintain proper FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices when receiving and shipping materials.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly identified, labeled, and stored in designated warehouse locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions using Microsoft Excel, inventory software, and warehouse documentation.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reconciliation, and discrepancy investigations.
  • Support Warehouse, Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Customer Service by maintaining efficient shipping and receiving operations.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damaged shipments, shortages, shipping errors, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Follow all GMP, safety, housekeeping, and powered industrial truck requirements.
  • Review daily shipping schedules, receiving priorities, and warehouse workload.
  • Receive and verify inbound deliveries.
  • Prepare and stage outbound customer shipments.
  • Verify shipping documentation and inventory accuracy before shipment.
  • Coordinate carrier pickups and shipment schedules.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions using Excel and inventory software.
  • Assist with inventory counts, warehouse organization, and shipping activities.
  • Perform end-of-shift reconciliation of shipping and receiving documentation.
