About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for overseeing the loading and unloading of delivery trucks, ensuring compliance with workplace safety procedures, and limiting access to loading docks by unauthorized individuals. This role involves receiving and inspecting incoming shipments, notifying delivery personnel of any shipping damage, and reviewing packing lists. The associate will also prepare purchase orders for outgoing shipments, process returned goods, and manage customer shipments in line with customer order requirements. Additionally, the position requires routing outbound freight, monitoring carrier performance, processing claims for lost freight or shipping damage, and verifying freight bills. A key aspect of this role is ensuring all assigned activities are performed in accordance with the Seabrook Quality System procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with ERP system and shipping.
  • Ability to package goods according to established guidelines.
  • Familiar with inventory control databases, UPS/ FedEx shipping.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to express concepts effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office and the internet.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee loading and unloading of delivery trucks.
  • Assure compliance with workplace safety procedures.
  • Limit access to loading docks by unauthorized individuals while trucks are being loaded and unloaded.
  • Receive and inspect external packaging of all incoming shipments.
  • Notify delivery personnel of any apparent shipping damage and proceed accordingly.
  • Review incoming packing lists and logs and route to receiving inspection area.
  • Complete purchase order receipt for received items in ERP system.
  • Prepare purchase orders for outgoing shipment of parts for external processing.
  • Complete work order traveler operations for outgoing and returned parts.
  • Prepare certificate of conformance, packing lists, bill of ladings and other shipping documentation as necessary for outgoing customer shipments.
  • Complete shipping transactions in ERP system.
  • Assure that customer shipments are made in line with customer order requirements in ERP System.
  • Receive and process returned goods shipments in accordance with company procedures.
  • Route outbound freight to assure on time delivery where no carrier is specified.
  • Monitor carriers performance and tariff charges and determines best carriers for the most cost-effective and reliable delivery within established standards.
  • Assure that all outgoing shipments are packaged to prevent damage in transit to outside service supplier or customer.
  • Process lost freight or shipping damage claims.
  • Verify freight bills with accounting and resolve discrepancies with carriers.
  • Assure that all assigned activities are performed in accordance with Seabrook Quality System procedures.
