About The Position

The Shipping PIT Operator position is a full-time hourly role responsible for various tasks within the shipping department. This includes adhering to safety practices, processing customer orders by reading work orders and shipping papers, monitoring conveyor lines, loading units into trailers or storage, verifying counts, inspecting products for damage, completing tally sheets, managing paperwork, generating bills of lading, delivering units to production areas, maintaining clean work areas, sweeping trailers, and performing inventory and receiving duties as needed. The role requires a focus on safety, attendance, and quality of work.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate success in safety, attendance & quality of work.
  • Certified ability to safely operate a forklift truck.
  • Accurately use and read measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of general computer operation.
  • Ability to learn; follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Applicants must be able to stand, walk and be able to reach at or below shoulder level; frequent twisting, bending and lifting from the ground; repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

  • HS Diploma or equivalent is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures, including PPE, ZES, PIT/PED safety.
  • Read factory work orders and various shipping and/or receiving papers to learn customer requirements and process information.
  • Monitor conveyors take off lines, remove units from the lines, and load units into trailers and/or place units in storage areas.
  • Check load tags and unit counts to verify accuracy.
  • Inspect finished units during the loading process to ensure they are free from handling damage and that the straps are intact.
  • Accurately complete tally sheets to record units loaded into trailers.
  • Maintain well-organized paperwork.
  • Generate accurate bills of lading.
  • Deliver sheet and/or in-process units to production areas as required.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, storage areas, and aisles.
  • Sweep and clean trailers to ensure only clean trailers are used for products.
  • Take and maintain accurate inventories.
  • Perform receiving duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
