About The Position

Baker Manufacturing is seeking a hands-on Shipping & Material Handling Supervisor to lead our warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory operations across our Evansville and Janesville facilities. This is a working supervisor role, meaning you'll lead by example while actively participating in daily warehouse operations. We're looking for a motivated leader who enjoys developing employees, improving processes, and creating a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of forklift and material handling experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, or material handling.
  • Strong ERP experience required; Epicor experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational change, modernize legacy processes, and successfully guide employees through change.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and employee engagement skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with inventory control and warehouse operations.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between Evansville and Janesville locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the material handling team while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
  • Lead by example by actively participating in daily warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling activities.
  • Lead operational change by modernizing legacy processes and successfully guiding employees through change with strong communication, engagement, and accountability.
  • Plan daily work assignments and prioritize resources to support production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, movement, staging, and shipment of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Ensure materials are delivered accurately and on time to support manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper ERP transactions, cycle counts, and inventory control practices.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor warehouse operations and identify opportunities to improve productivity, material flow, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Planning, Customer Service, Engineering, and Quality to resolve issues and support operational success.
  • Support Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement initiatives, 5S, and workplace organization efforts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, departmental documentation, and operational reports.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, including inventory accuracy, shipping performance, and productivity, and take corrective action when needed.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support ISO standards, quality procedures, audits, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
